Introduction

La Bellone, House of Performing Arts, is dedicated to the live arts: theatre, dance, opera, circus, performance... Situated in the center of Brussels, the heart of La Bellone's activities is a courtyard covered by a glass roof, sheltering a baroque facade which was built at the begining of the 18th century by Jean Cosyn, builder-sculptor of the market place. Forum of the living arts, a showcase to display and highlight them, and a place of living memory, La Bellone offers permanent services, notably through its center for theatre resources; and organises events and privileged moments with the artists. La Bellone issues several publications, including the quarterly magazine Scènes, and hosts several associations linked to the performing arts.

Events and Ressources

Priority is given to innovative, creative approaches and to public-minded initiatives displaying the most communal spirit. Most of the events are free, or accessible at very democratic prices.

The Studio

The rehearsal room measures 15m x 7m, is situated on the 2nd floor and has a dance floor, black-out curtains, storage space and light/sound equipment. The studio can be rented for 5 € an hour when it is not in use by artists in preparation for events at La Bellone. The studio may also be used free of charge, within the program of funding for rehearsals, developed thanks to Les Amis de la Bellone. Priority is given to theater projects rather than lessons, and to professional projects of young companies or artists with limited funding, and to original contemporary projects aiming to excell.
