Denis MARTIN (B)
(1910 - 1983)
Décorateur et costumier belge.
Après des études à l'Abbaye de la Cambre, Denis Martin fait ses premières armes à Amsterdam dans la Compagnie de Johann De Meester avant de travailler pour le Nouveau Marais de Raymond Rouleau, la Compagnie des Quinze de Michel Saint-Denis, le Rideau Gris de Marseille de Ducreux et Roussin et en Belgique pour les Galeries, Les Comédiens Routiers, ...
Mais il est avant tout un des piliers du Théâtre National de Belgique. En 1946, il crée les décors et costumes de" Roméo et Juliette ", premier spectacle mis en scène par Jacques Huisman au Théâtre National . C'est le début d'une collaboration de 50 ans : Denis Martin conçoit une centaine de décors pour ce théâtre au cours d'une carrière de 50 ans.
Il a également travaillé pour l'opéra à Marseille, Lille, Monte Carlo et Genève.
Denis Martin est décédé à 73 ans après deux mois de maladie.
