RÉSIDENCE / DRAMATURGIE

Drama

1 > 13/04/2024

We have been involved in a trilogy of works that bring into question how dance could hold a space for loss. The trilogy examines our relationship to loss in the context of the personal, cultural, and political. It attends to notions of emptiness referring to grief, and how something can be at once achingly present as well as utterly gone.

The works address the unknown, the unknowable, the looming, and the never fully graspable. ‘Drama’ is the last piece in the trilogy and it will in turn rattle the structures that keep grief invisible and sensible. It spills out of the discreet, defined and orderly, reordering grief’s timely and spatial relations. The piece works at the ecstatic edges of grief. It amplifies the body on stage into forms that are closer to feeling and fantasy rather than factuality. The costumes and scenographic elements have been composed together with designer Lærke Valum. They materialize and embody something that is both substantial, and something that could fall apart at any moment.

There will be a work-in-progress showing on Thursday the 11th at 3pm.
