Dans le cadre de sa résidence à La Bellone et après trois journées de workshop , Ondine Cloez invite Bruno de Wachter à lire un de ces texte le 22 septembre de 18h30 à 19h30. La lecture sera menée en anglais.
LECTURE - One way ticket.
Bruno De Wachter lira un fragment de « One way ticket », un texte inspiré par une promenade d'Amsterdam à son domicile à Bruxelles. Dans ce fragment, il traverse Mortsel, la banlieue d'Anvers où il a grandi, ce qui l'amène à réfléchir à la familiarité et l'étrangeté, sur le mal du pays et la nostalgie, ou plutôt sur l'absence de ces sentiments. De temps à autre, le texte change de perspective pour adopter le point de vue d'autres personnes avec lesquelles il partage l'espace public au cours de ses pérégrinations.

Bruno De Wachter will read a fragment of “One way ticket”, a text that was inspired by a walk from Amsterdam to his home base in Brussels. In this fragment, he is passing through Mortsel, the suburb of Antwerp where he grew up, leading to reflections on familiarity and strangeness, on homesickness and nostalgia, or rather the absence of those feelings. Every now and then, the text switches perspective to the standpoints of other people with whom he is sharing the public space during his wanderings.
Depuis Bruxelles, Bruno De Wachter partage son temps entre son travail de rédacteur technique et ses propres projets de marche et d'écriture. Il a publié des essais et de la prose dans divers magazines (nY, Les Carnets du paysage, ...) et compilations (Strangers Within, ...). Il a commencé à travailler sur une prose inspirée par la marche au long cours. Chaque année, il parcourt une partie d'un trèfle à quatre feuilles qu'il a dessiné sur la carte de l'Europe, avec Bruxelles au centre et Belfast, Bergen, Rome et Madrid aux extrémités des quatre feuilles. Il s'intéresse particulièrement à la tension entre le global et le local, et aux interrelations entre le corps humain, la langue et le paysage. Il organise parfois des promenades artistiques en groupe qui impliquent l'écriture, et participe à des projets artistiques d'autres personnes qui sont liés à la littérature et/ou à la marche. L'un de ces projets est « Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine » de la chorégraphe norvégienne Mette Edvardsen, pour lequel il apprend par cœur les « Collected Poems » du poète néerlandais Hans Faverey, en néerlandais et dans la traduction anglaise. Bruno De Wachter a créé des ateliers pour a.pass (en collaboration avec Lilia Mestre) et KASK, et a donné des conférences sur l'écriture au Arnhems Schrijfatelier aux Pays-Bas et pour l'atelier Creatief schrijven à De Markten à Bruxelles.
From his base in Brussels, Bruno De Wachter splits his time between work as a technical copywriter and his own walking and writing projects. He has published essays and prose in various magazines (nY, Les Carnets du paysage, ...) and compilations (Strangers Within, ...). He has started working on prose inspired by long-distance walking. Each year, he walks a section of a four-leaf clover which he has drawn on the map of Europe, with Brussels in the centre and Belfast, Bergen, Rome and Madrid at the extreme ends of the four leaves. He has a special interest in the tension between the global and the local, and in the interrelations between the human body, language and landscape. He sometimes organises artistic group walks that involve writing, and participates in artistic projects of others that are related to literature and/or walking. One of these projects is Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine by the Norwegian choreographer Mette Edvardsen, for which he learns the Collected Poems of the Dutch poet Hans Faverey by heart, both in Dutch and in the English translation. Bruno De Wachter has created workshops for a.pass (in collaboration with Lilia Mestre) and KASK, and has given guest lectures on writing at Arnhems Schrijfatelier in the Netherlands and for the workshop Creatief schrijven at De Markten in Brussels.
