Comédien français.
Compagnon des débuts de Roger Planchon, pensionnaire de la Comédie-Française de 1987 à 1989, il a joué sous la direction d'Hubert Guignoux, Jean Le Poulain, Roger Planchon, Marcelle Tassencourt, André Barsacq, Georges Wilson, Jean Deschamps, ...
Il a participé à de nombreuses créations marquantes comme Paolo Paoli, d'Arthur Adamov, en 1957, Les Coréens, de Michel Vinaver, que Jean-Marie Serreau met en scène au Théâtre de l'Alliance française, à Paris, ou " Le Vicaire " de Rolf Hochhuth.
Alain Mottet et Françoise Hirsch, son épouse, se sont donné la mort, mardi 31 octobre, à leur domicile parisien.
