Il entre à la Comédie-Française le 1er septembre 1965, devient sociétaire en 1972 et sociétaire honoraire en 2006.
Formation
- Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique de Paris - CNSAD, 1er Prix de Comédie classique et 1er Prix de Comédie moderne (promotion 1965).

- Chevalier dans l'Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.
- Officier dans l'Ordre national du Mérite.
